A little Franschhoek weekend...

Last month, a friend and I decided to do a weekend escape to the winelands for a little relaxation and lots of wine (of course)

We opted to stay in one of the luxury, 2 bedroomed apartments at The Ivy (located in the heart of Franschhoek town). The accommodation was fantastic and you are literally walking distance from a range of restaurants, shops, the Huguenot memorial Monument and the starting point for the wine tram tour.

Here are a few photos of the gorgeous apartment we stayed in... I could have happily stayed there for months...

We didn't have a lot of time to explore, so we booked the Wine Tram tour (We did the red line route).

If you have never done a Wine Tram tour, I can highly recommend it and here's a few reasons why:

* Affordable - tickets are either R170 or R220 per person (ticket covers a whole day of getting transported to 4- 6 different wine farms and gives you discounts on wine tastings)
* Time - If, like us, you only have limited time and want to see a bunch of wine farms in one day - then this works well. You only get to spend an hour at most farms (unless you choose to skip one or two), but an hour is usually enough time to sample and see if you want to return for a longer visit.
* So much FUN - what's not to love about tasting plenty of amazing wines, seeing beautiful wine farms, getting a bit too tipsy and having someone else get you "home"....ummm...nothing.

Here are some snaps from our "Sunday Funday" :)
